CAS staffers gather for a year-end blast

The college ended the year 2017 with the twin-event, conducted in morning and afternoon sessions on December 20, a symposium and team-building activity among CAS administrative support staff, REPS, and individual contract services workers.

Initiated by Administrative Officer V, Mrs. Pamela C. Joyosa, with all-out support from the Dean’s Office headed by Dr. Felino P. Lansigan, the event carried out its three-fold objectives:

1)  to re-echo relevant seminars/trainings, attended by a selected few in 2017, to all concerned co-workers – Resource persons Ms. Ma. Cielo M. Lampa, SPMO Chief of UPLB, together with Ms. Joyosa, disseminated relevant information to the wider audience of CAS staff.

2) to harmonize all units’ information management system for facilitating the retrieval of data – Resource person, Ms. Amparo C. dela Cruz, University Extension Specialist 1, situated the topic in view of data required by the annual Performance-Based Bonus (PBB), Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS), and the recently instituted Quality Assurance for Quality Education assessment program.

3)  most importantly, to provide a venue for better camaraderie and to enhance team-work among the entire CAS staff.

As a culminating team-building activity, each CAS unit showcased the talents of the staff representatives before the full-day event ended. As an added delight, the best performers brought home modest incentives. The Institute of Chemistry staff number bagged the first prize, while the Dean’s Office won second prize, and the Institute of Biological Sciences, third.

First Prize Winner: Institute of Chemistry (IC)
Second Prize Winner: CAS Dean’s Office and College Secretary’s Office (DO/OCS)
Third Prize Winner: Institute of Biological Sciences (IBS)

The show turned out to be treat enjoyed by everyone along with the simple yet sumptuous meals shared by the staff as one big, happy family. As the organizers mentioned, “this modest undertaking, but one great dream, is a first-of-its kind in our College and we are confident that this will create another milestone in the history of CAS and a colorful spot in every support staff’s heart.”   ∎
