The Philippine Federation of Chemistry Societies (PFCS), in cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry, held the 6th National Children’s On-the-Spot Poster Making Competition last February 20, 2016 at the Physical Sciences Building, UPLB. This annual nationwide activity was organized as part of the celebration of the Chemistry week (February 15-21, 2016).
Opening the competition, Guest Speaker Prof. Rodolfo S. Del Rosario shared his insights about the theme “Chemistry in the Life of a Nation.”
Janrian P. Par (Los Baños Integrated School), Mark Kevin S. Mendoza (Bay Central Elementary School) and Kristine B. Arellano (San Pablo City National High School) were declared as the local winners and qualified as finalists for the national award. The National winners will be announced during the 31st Philippine Chemistry Congress. The winning posters will also be exhibited during the Congress.
The contest highlighted children’s view of the role of Chemistry in human life. It also aimed to contribute a greater public interest in, and appreciation of, Chemistry, particularly among the youth.
