Prof. Layeta Bucoy, associate professor at the Department of Humanities, was appointed UP Artist III, the highest distinction under the UP Arts Productivity System, which recognizes “outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development.”

A graduate of the BA Communication Arts program, Prof. Bucoy is a celebrated writer for film, television and theater whose accolades include several Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for her plays. Named UP Artist II last 2013, Prof. Bucoy remains to be the only UPLB faculty given recognition by the UP Arts Productivity System. The UP Artist is appointed for a period of three years and is given corresponding annual monetary rewards.
