Mr. Carlos Piocos III, an instructor at the Department of Humanities (DHUM), won First Prize for Poetry in Filipino in the 60th Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature(DCPMAL). His prize-winning work is entitled “Geurra Cantos.”

This is already Mr. Piocos’ second time to win the top prize in the category. He previously won the same prize from the 57th DCPMAL in 2007. Last year, he was given the Creative Artist Award (Poetry) in the UPLB Centennial Awards.

Mr. Piocos teaches literature and writing courses at the DHUM. He is also set to begin his Master’s degree at Cardiff University, Wales, later this year.
